Hike To Kopolia Peak

Hike to Kopolia Peak
browse (1 / 3)

Winding up from the Sans Souci road, there are many trails leading into Morne Seychellois National Park. Chief among them is a trail leading up Kopolia Peak. Kopolia Peak stands at 497 metres tall, rewarding the hiker with a breathtaking viewpoint once you have reached its summit. The park was created in 1979 and shortly thereafter hiking trails and paths were mapped out. These trails were laid out with the intention to encourage visitors and locals the opportunity to discover and enjoy the natural splendor of the island.

Host to an incredibly diverse and unique eco-system, the park allows you to wander at your own pace as you make your way along the Kopolia Peak trail. Lush tropical landscapes envelop you along your journey. Vanilla orchids, the incredibly rare jellyfish tree and a myriad of palm tree species greet you along your hike. Be sure you don’t depart finish the trail without catching a glimpse of the carnivorous Pitcher plant!

The Kopolia Peak trail is a bird watchers dream - amongst the park’s birdlife you can find the blue pigeon, Seychelles bulbul, Seychelles kestrel, cave swiftlet, sunbird and Seychelles white-eye (to name but a few!).

Arranging a trip to the Morne Seychellois National Park to hike the Kopolia Peak trail is easy - leaflets of the trails are also readily available at the Antigone Bookshop and the kiosk at the botanical gardens.
