"The La Digue Island Lodge could not be better situated - right on the beach facing the island of Praslin, a really fabulous spot with breathtaking views and incredible sunsets. The hotel's restaurant, bar and pool are also all spot on and the whole place has a great feel. We stayed in one of the beach chalets which again couldn't be rivalled location-wise - you walk out of the chalet virtually onto the beach. There were a couple of things we felt let the place down a bit: the interiors of the chalets are dated and below par in terms of fixtures, fittings and decor, and the mezzanine sleeping area is cramped, very basic, too hot and virtually inaccessible due to a perilous straight up and down ladder (I wouldn't even consider letting a child sleep up there). Because of this we thought the price was way too high. The price we paid was equivalent to the Savoy in London, and the overall standard is definitely not 5 star. "
